HOW TO TEST IF YOUR AHA SERUM REALLY CONTAINS AHA
In a small cup, or any container, pour a small amount of lotion or cream, and then add 2 or 3 drops of AHA Serum. Mix it well. You should notice a change in consistency right away. Leave it for 5-10 minutes. You will notice that the water has separated from the cream. This is because AHA and BHA are acids. They break down emulsion, thus causing the oil and water in your lotion/cream to separate. If you do not see this result, your serum probably does not contain any AHA. To be sure, try it with other brands of lotion/cream.
***It is for this reason that we do not recommend pouring the whole bottle of AHA Serum in a bottle of lotion. But if you have done it already, no worries. It does not affect the quality of the products. You just need to shake/mix it well before you use it.
PRECAUTION:
Soo Yun AHA Serum contains twice as much AHA than most AHA Serums in the market, so we do not recommend direct application, especially on the face, or you might end up with acid burns. If you do not wish to use it with lotions and creams, you can dilute it with distilled water (1:1 ratio, means 1ml AHA Serum must be mixed with 1ml water) and use it as an exfoliant or toner. Add more water if you have sensitive skin. Others may experience micro peeling, while others with more sensitive skin may see visible skin peeling. If that happens, stop using the product to allow regeneration of new skin cells. When peeling takes place, avoid sun exposure because your skin is at its very sensitive state. For first time users, apply only on the face at most 3 times a week. For those whose skin has already gotten used to AHA, it is still best to give your skin some rest. Use AHA for 2 weeks, and then stop for a week or two, and then use it again.
